Joke themes 2

Ok, I'm still getting the same feeling when I see/read jokes - that I can identify it's theme, and also that the number of themes is actually pretty low (compared to what one should expect). Well, easier thought than done. I perceive each theme a bit like I perceive a color. Try casually explaining the similarity of same-coloured objects, or telling how many colours are there. But since it's a great excuse to post even more of my xkcd favourites, I'll try presenting some theme examples (or just some pairs of similar comics) of different detail levels. Every theme contains more specific themes, and is a part of a wider one.

I also get the feeling that not all of these themes are intentional, and when speaking about joke themes on a culture level (as opposed to single-author level), vast majority of them are not intended.

Science Not Protecting Against Lightning

Enough for today. If you're new here then you would probably like to see also the first Joke Themes. This time, I think, the themes are more like how I see them, but I will need some more examples to be properly understandable, I suppose (4x ' I ' in one sentence!). Meanwhile I shall wonder about the possibility of creating a jokemap with all things that make us laugh in it. While surely uncreatable in 'always and everywhere' scale, would be an instersting thing even with just a few jokes mapped. Now think of the possibilities between these two extremities.

Have a nice saturday evening.

  2. Seriously, if the Department of Ideas was real, I would be the richest person in the universe. Fuck.

Lately, I wondered if there is a global telepatic mind field that links our minds in a very subtle way. That would explain why so many of mine briliant ideas are developed by someone else. That means, I should NOT think about any brilliant idea, until I have money for developing it. Hm...

  3. Gregorius: I know exactly what you mean. There have been many ideas that me and a friend came up with, and then a few years later, saw the exact same thing on Future Weapons, or something.
